This past month in Greece has been full of activity as many girls have been rescued and are finding hope and freedom in the A21 shelter. One of these young girls, Natalia,* was trafficked across the border into Greece, and found the courage one night to escape. She ran for hours before finding a police station.
Natalia's bravery and testimony helped provide information to police about more girls that were also forced into sex slavery, and as a result a raid was held where more than a dozen other girls were set free throughout Greece!
Now safe in the A21 shelter, Natalia is finding healing and restoration. The impact that The A21 Campaign is able to have in the lives of one girl who is rescued will never truly be realized, as that one girl has the ability to make such a significant difference in the fight against human trafficking!
This last month we also had the honor of celebrating one of the survivors' birthday, by throwing a surprise party! The shelter was decorated with balloons, streamers, and a huge cake that everyone enjoyed. There are no words to express the joy and excitement that the smile on her face conveyed, as she had never before had a birthday party. Celebrations like this are a great reminder that everything The A21 Campaign is doing is changing lives, and it is only by faithful partners that we are able to make these girls’ dreams become realities.
There has also been incredible breakthrough in the shelter, as many girls have come to know Jesus and understand the unconditional love that He has for them. One of the miracles that has recently taken place involves two young Muslim girls who prayed "Jesus, if you're real, save us." Then, two days later, they were rescued and brought to the A21 shelter. Since then, they had the opportunity to attend church and have recently accepted Christ into their lives! This is just one of the many examples of the power of prayer, and its necessity in bringing light to the darkness of these girls’ situations.
